It is a very common question to hear these days, with several schools/universities changing meal plans by eliminating soda, candy, and high-calorie snacks. Should energy drinks be taken out as well? Certain energy drinks are extremely high in calories and sugar. I do agree that high calorie/sugar drinks should be removed from schools. If America is trying to low the level of childhood obesity selling high calorie "popular" energy drinks is not going to help!
However, the Red-Bull company has recognized the desire for people enjoy low calorie drinks OTHER than water... So, they invented Sugar-Free Red Bull. This drink as opposed to many others energy drinks such as Rock Star contains only 10 calories per serving(per can). I do feel that high school, middle school, and elementary school children should not be exposed to such drinks.
Drinks such as Sugar-Free Red Bull should be kept in Universities and Colleges because of the long nights and early morning starts they encounter week after week. High school, middle school, and elementary school students do not put in the same amount of work hours as college students. They have shorter days, and therefore naturally sleep more hours than the normal college student. In conclusion, I feel only low-calorie energy drinks such as Sugar- Free Red Bull should be sold at Universities and Colleges!
